ARKY EYE UP THE TROPHY

J Emrys Morgan Cup round up-North- ‘Arky’ on a roll.

Penparcau Reserves, who took a step closer to emulating their senior team in winning this prestigious competition were forced to work hard against a talented young Ffostrasol side at Parc Troedrhiw and this game was in the balance until the final quarter when the visitors struck twice in quick succession to secure the win.

Only three Reserve teams have ever lifted this trophy including Llanfair Reserves who were successful in 2016 but with a bit of luck with the draw anything is possible although there will be some tough tests ahead.

Ffostrasol edged out

The visitors as expected started strongly and hit the post with just five minutes gone but shortly after this Jake Bush opened the scoring when he rifled the ball past the home keeper. Ffostrasol hit back when they slotted the ball into the net from the penalty spot and it was all to play for at the break with the scores level.

The heavy rains caused the pitch to cut up badly after the interval and the Penparcau  management made a few changes and this rotation to the team paid dividends as Sam Davies netted on the hour and this was followed by another goal when the visitors were awarded  a free kick 30 yards out and Chris Wylde skilfully curled the ball around the wall to put  his team 3-1 ahead and into the last 16 of a competition that their first  team won last year.

Two goals from Sion Evans helped steer Llanilar to a 3-1 win over Trefonen where Shon Morgans was also on the scoresheet whilst at Aberdyfi the hosts fired six past Bow Street Reserves without reply.

Ben Richards was the hero for the hosts as he bagged a hat trick and there were singles for Carrigan Beeson, Tim Holt and Trystan Besent as they are their side ran amok.
