Division 4
Llanrhian 2nds 145 all out lost to Llechryd 2nds 148 for 8 by 2 wkts

Llechryd 2nds made it a successful day all round for their club when they defeated Llanrhian 2nds by a couple of wickets.

Llechryd won the toss and put their opponents Llanrhian in to bat on a decent looking track, with a stiff breeze blowing across the ground. Young Dafydd Davies found some rhythm almost immediately with his medium away swing and caused difficulties, removing the dangerous RV Jones for 4 and Llion Williams for 1, with his first spell.

The innings was however held together by Julian Harris who scored 57 before Peter Gregory removed him with his canny variations in a solid mid innings spell of 8 overs 1 wicket for 19 runs.

Some excellent fielding especially by wickie Tomos Tompkinson

Experienced skipper Ollie Roberts found himself having to return to Davies at the mid-way point of the innings, and he again delivered, making an immediate impression taking two quick wickets to put Llechryd back in control, ending his spell with 9 overs, 4 wickets for 31. Some lower order resistance was put up by Anthony John who hit a quickfire 33 before 13 year old Tom Lewis ended the innings with his spin taking 2 wickets for 20 in a five over spell. Llanrhian finished on 145 all out, a total not to be taken lightly but under par on a good batting track.

In response the visitors stuttered early on and were not helped by a silly run out. This precipitated a collapse with most of the middle order falling relatively cheaply with Llechryd in deep trouble at 81-7 before the lower order saved the day. The fight back started with Simon Newlands hitting a flamboyant 31, all-rounder Gregory a robust 15 before young Tomos Lewis again showed his potential with a long innings with skipper Ollie Roberts, before falling for 15 in a partnership of 45 runs to all but win the match.

Burton 2nds 246 for 8 drew with Crymych 235-8.
Superb ton for Thorne

Crymych were left a mountain to climb when opponents Burton set them a run chase of 247 but had they had anyone to match the exploits of talented batsman Richard Thorne, with the exception of all rounder Ioan Davies (32) they could well have reached the summit as they fell just a few runs short. Thorne smashed his way to 126 not out but he ran out of allies as his team eventually had to settle for 235 for eight. Not a bad score by any stretch but just short on this occasion.

Joe John with 93, Gareth Virgo with 32 and Paul Webb with 30 provided the bulk of the Burton runs. Ioan Davies 1-39, Rhodri Thomas 2-50 and Hedd Nicholas 1-20 were the pick of the Crymych bowlers whilst for Burton Louis Murphy took 4-59.
