FIVE STAR RANGERS

Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies

Bargod Rangers produced one of the shock results of the day when they thrashed first division outfit Dewi Stars by 5-1 in the opening round of the Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo.

The pre-match downpour did little to dampen the spirits of the visitors who looked comfortable throughout the game and they went deservedly ahead early on in the first half when Jay Shae slotted the ball wide of the keeper.

The Rangers pressure continued on the home goal and a third goal followed after the best move of the half when Shae found Steffan Evans in space and he prodded the ball past home to make it three nil at half time.

Defending the slope in the second half the visitors expected an avalanche of shots on keeper Davies’s goal but it never really came with defenders Lyndon Robinson and Dan Evans outstanding in and keeping the hosts out with some timely interceptions.

Stars managed to pull a goal back through Daniel Owen and the hosts sensing another goal was just around the corner pushed forward but they were hit on the break when centre back Daniel Jones split the home defence with an accurate pass to Shae and he crashed it home from 15 yards.

Front runner Robbie Jenkins killed the game off when he lobbed the keeper with a delicate chip to round off an excellent performance from his team.

A late goal from Daniel Jones secured a very hard fought win for Newcastle Emlyn over Bow Street Reserves. The reds who were without several key players including recent signing Dion Phillips enjoyed plenty of possession in the first half but the Magpies kept it tight and there were not many chances created at either end.

Sam Hall

The deadlock was eventually broken when Sam Hall fired his first goal for the reds since signing from Cardigan Town last season and it was worth waiting for.Hall brought the ball down just inside the box and volleyed home a powerful shot which went in off a post. Bow Street came storming back and enjoyed a couple of good chances towards the end of the half but it remained at 1-0 at half time.

The game opened up after the break as the visitors went looking for the equaliser and this duly arrived midway through the second half when Osian Rees-Jones, who was making his debut for Bow Street following a transfer from Aberystwyth Town, volleyed home from close range.

There was very little in the game going into the final quarter until Daniel Jones was put through and he calmly slotted the ball home to see his team through for a narrow win against a good side.

A serious leg injury to Llandysul defender Danny Williams forced their game with St Dogmaels to be abandoned at Parc Tir y Dref. Williams was caught accidentally in a fair challenge and he was taken by ambulance to Glangwili Hospital. It has since been confirmed that he suffered a double fracture. All players will wish him well in his recovery.

Llandysul had been leading 2-0 following goals from Adrian Hazelby and Ryan Evans before Rhys Jones pulled one back with a brilliant free kick.

A super strike in extra time by Daniel Davies helped secure a narrow win for Aberporth against Llanilar. Davies hit a beauty from long range to see his team over the line. James King and Johnny Kinsella were the others on target for the airmen.

Tregaron Turfs enjoyed a comfortable win over Llanon where match winning hero Llyr Davies bagged a hat trick. Carwyn Earey, Tomos Lewis and Cerith Davies were also on target for the Turfs.

Crannog returned to winning ways at Penparcau with the help of front runner Mathew Smith who grabbed a hat trick in a well-deserved 6-1 success. Dan Robinson, Robbie Evan and Rhys Davies with a penalty were the other scorers.

Felinfach made a successful trip to UWA after they beat the students by 4-2.
