SAME AGAIN FOR CRYMYCH

FRIDAY RUGBY PREVIEW

It is almost the case of same again this week for the Crymych coaching team who have opted for a similar line up and this will be no surprise to those who witnessed their splendid win away at Gorseinon.

The only changes for this tough encounter with Division One West leaders Llanelli Wanderers are Josh Hewins who comes into the centre in place of Dyfan Davies who is unavailable and Aled Harries who takes over from Carwyn Rees at hooker.

Skipper and number eight Tom Powell heads a powerful back row unit of Dylan Phillips and Guto Davies with Andrew Phillips and Dion Gibby providing the engine in the powerhouse for the front three of Ifan James, Harries and Scott Jenkins.

The half back partnership of scrum half Mathew Roebuck and Jake Jenkins will be looking to give the Wanderers back row the run around with the latter in particular impressing many last time out. The dependable duo of Tomos Phillips and Hewins provide the craft in midfield with Nick Bevan and Dylan Thomas waiting in the wings for a chance to pounce. Gethin Gibby who scored the crucial try last weekend is once again at the last line of defence.

Llanelli Wanderers are undefeated to date with four wins on the bounce but Gorseinon were undefeated until last Saturday and Powell and co will be hungry to break another winning sequence.

The league leaders have a good balance in their side with playmaker Johnny George, normally a stand off, playing at thirteen tomorrow, and a very good kicker who will punish any indiscretions within his long kicking. Full back Dafydd Daniel is a dangerous runner as is right winger Jon Jenkins and up front the Llanelli side have a very solid front row with hooker Tom Samuel, loose head Hywel Jenkins and corner stone Ben Harries ever present this season.

Interestingly, skipper and number eight Ben Phillips has been demoted to the bench for this game with Lloyd Pike coming in for his first start of the season and the eighteen year old who is being closely monitored by Llanelli RFC will certainly be given a warm welcome at Parc Lloyd Thomas.

The coaching team of Lyn Williams,Elgan Vittle, Carwyn Jones and Gareth Williams will have been delighted with the win at Gorseinon and will be determined to add another scalp to their collection tomorrow against the men from Stradey Park in what promises to be an entertaining fixture.

Kick off 2.30.
