BLUES AND MAGPIES HANG ON FOR WINS

Maesglas who were undone by Division Two leaders Ffostrasol last time out bounced back with a hard fought win away at Cae Dandre against a young Llanboidy side who never gave up until the final whistle.

The blues who were missing half a dozen players dominated for large periods and played some of their best football of the season especially during the first half hour and should have been at least a few goals up at the break after missing some decent opportunities.

Daniel Jones eventually opened the scoring from a direct free kick from outside the box and soon after Sambo Luom also fired home from the edge of the penalty area after a poor clearance fell kindly to him.

The young Llanboidy side played well after the break and started to turn the screw a little and after a good spell of pressure they equalised with a well taken shot from Rhys Jenkins after a cross was whipped into the box.

The Blues came back again and looked to be gaining control of the second half and after a good spell of decent pressure Billy Myers broke into the box and from close range smashed his drive into the net via the keepers legs to go 3 -1 up.

Llanboidy though hit back late on when Will Ellis was on target following a mix up in the Blues box following a corner and the action in the final few minutes of the game went from end to end with the game delicately poised at 3-2. However it was Maesglas who were victorious and on the day just about deserved to take the three points in a game well refereed by Dai Morris.

Division two front runners Ffostrasol enjoyed a comfortable win at the expense of Aberporth to hang on to their lofty position ahead of the Blues. There were no goals in the opening half but the visitors came alive after the break and scored two quick goals through Dion Phillips and Carwyn Morgan and they dominated much of the game after this and further goals followed through Ynyr James, Phillips and Morgan to complete a well deserved victory.

RESERVES CUP

Cardigan Reserves were coasting it at 3-0 against Bargod Rangers Reserves after dominating the first half but the visitors came back to level matters and the last ten minutes produced some frantic football with the Magpies just edging out their opponents.

Two goals from Jack Thomas and one from Bernie Hancox were just reward for the hosts superiority early on but Rangers came back and levelled with goals from Kyle Noble, Hefin Jones and Rhys Evans but a late winner from Jason Davies spoiled their day.

League leaders Lampeter Reserves started slowly against Crannog and went behind when the visitors fired home from the penalty spot after Paul Hands had chopped down striker Dylan Jones. The hosts though gradually imposed themselves on the game and hit back when Jon Williams fired the ball home low past the keeper after a goal mouth scramble.

In the second half, Mark Wilkins had a shot that was well saved and Gareth Young was presented with a decent chance but fired high over the keeper. Ten minutes before the end Paul Hands made up for his foul earlier by driving the ball across the penalty box and it evaded everyone before rolling into the empty net off the woodwork to seal the win
