Pembrokeshire County Cricket

Division 3

Neyland 2nds 83 all out

Llechryd 86-4

Llechryd moved in to top spot in division three following a comprehensive win over title rivals Neyland 2nds.

The Castell Malgwyn side who were missing a number of key players managed to bowl out their South Pembrokeshire opponents for only 83 with all rounder Michael Godfrey the best of the home bowlers with 4-16 and fellow all rounder John Curran also impressed and took 3-16 off only nine overs. Veteran left armer Peter Betterley also chipped in with a wicket as did  Michael Carter.

In reply the Teifisiders knocked off the runs quite easily with 14 year old Tomos Davies playing well for his ten runs, all rounder Godfrey was 17 not out and Curran came in to kill off the opposition with a six and a four to win the match with the extras making up a large portion of the runs!

Llechryd 2nds had to settle for a losing draw away at Hundleton after a splendid knock of 94 from Jonathan Williams set the hosts up for a total of 208-6 .

Paul Beasley with 43 and Mark Newell with 42 gave Llechryd a fighting chance but they were always behind in the run chase and managed to hang on for a draw at 112-9. Steve Welch was the most economical of the Llechryd bowlers with 2-46
