DOHERTY FIRES UP MAGPIES

Ceredigion Cup and League round up

J.Emrys Morgan Cup

Cardigan cruised into round four following a 4-1 victory away at Padarn where former Aberystwyth Town under 19 starlet Liam Doherty bagged a hat trick. The young striker opened his account with a superb goal struck from long range with the outside of his boot which rocketed into the top corner. Doherty bagged another in the first half to add to a goal from Dylan Davies and the Magpies were almost out of sight by the break. The hosts struck back with a goal just after the interval before Doherty completed his hat trick to cap a fine individual performance.

Jason Jones

Lampeter Town will entertain Llanilar in the fourth round off the J.Emrys Morgan Cup after Jonyon Evans and his men accounted for Costcutter rivals New Quay at Cae Arthur. The north road side who are running into some decent form, last lifted this prestigious piece of silverware in 2014 when they beat Caersws and they will quietly fancy their chances of doing so again. Goals from Rhys Bowden and Jason Jones gave the visitors a two goal cushion at the break before experienced front runner Luke Lovell netted. New Quay responded with a consolation goal but Lampeter were worth their win in the end.

The game between Maesglas and Llandysul was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies round two.

Tregaron made it 13 wins out of 13 in league and cup competitions, but they had to fight hard to make it through against a tenacious Crymych side who were leading 1-0 at half time thanks to a goal from Ifan Davies and the Costcutter Division Two side were more than a match for the Turfs.

The more experienced home team equalised in the second half when a corner was bravely headed home by Deian Williams and the Turfs took the lead when substitute Carwyn Eary beat the offside trap and calmly slotted home passed the keeper.

Tregaron finally secured their passage through with twelve minutes to go when teen Daniel Owen made a break down the flank and his cross found William Williams who made no mistake from close range. However an excellent performance away from home from Crymych against a talented Tregaron outfit and this will give them a huge boost as on another day they could have well sneaked through.
