EASY WIN FOR LLECHRYD

Pembroke County Cricket League

Division Two
Johnston 118 all out (2) lost to Llechryd 119 for 1 (30) by 9 wkts

Title chasers Llechryd coasted to a comfortable win as expected over basement side Johnston  with veteran left arm seamer Peter Betterley producing another fine display of accurate line and length and taking four wickets.

The division strugglers decided to bat first but struggled to put any meaningful partnerships together and had it not been for the efforts of Liam James who hit 59 they would have been back in the pavillion very early.

James though quickly ran out of support at the crease with Steve James (16) and Nick Davies (10) the only contributors of note and his side were all out for 118 with Betterley topping the bowling figures with 4-28 and another to shine with the ball was all rounder Andrew Fletcher who picked up a couple of wickets.

Llechryd started confidently but they lost James Betterley  for 23 with Keegan Codd (1-19) claiming the wicket just as he looked to be set for a decent score but Michael Carter followed up his fine knock the previous weekend with a half century and he found an excellent ally in talented teen  Joe Mansfield  who was 35 not out at the end as his team strolled to a nine wicket victory.

Fifty for Mike Carter

The Teifisiders now have a 44-point advantage over third in the table Hook and are eight points behind leaders Narberth in the promotion race.
