THORNE HITS TON FOR CRYMYCH

Pembroke County Cricket League

Division 4- wins for Crymych and Llechryd.
Crymych 267 for 5 (30)   beat Hook 2nds 145 all out (6) by 122 runs

A majestic knock by talented Crymych batsman Richard Thorne helped steer the Preselimen to a splendid victory over Hook 2nds in the sunshine at Glandycross.

Thorne the ton hero

Sporting all rounder Thorne sent the ball to all areas of the picturesque ground as he carved out an innings of 124 with a succession of pulls, hooks and superb drives through the covers and he enjoyed excellent support from skipper Sam Kurtz who made 67.

Further down the order Dan Griffiths with 30 not out and Rhodri Lewis with 23 not out helped move the score on to 267-5 to set an imposing run chase for the Hook second stringers.

A dash of afternoon sun- and some cricket!

In reply Jonathan Clout with 39 and Phil Griffiths (27) led the initial chase but runs were hard to come by against some very tight bowling and the visitors were all out for 146. Ioan Davies with 3-20 was the pick of the bowling returns and all rounder Griffiths also picked up three wickets for 21 runs. Harri Dunn (2-26) also bowled impressively as did Dan Jones and James George.

Llechryd 2nds 47 for 1 (30) beat Carew 3rds 46 all out (1) by 9 wkts

Llechryd 2nds continued with their fine run of form when they picked up their fifth win of the campaign after defeating Carew 3rds by nine wickets at the RDM Oval.

Having first use of a decent batting strip the visitors put up little resistance as they were bowled out for just 46 with Ross Grieve their top scorer with a mere eight runs.  Hosts bowler Neil Croucher was the player that caused most of the damage taking three wickets for just six runs and there were two wickets for Richard Davies (2-10) and one for Peter Gregory (1-10). In reply the hosts rattled off the runs in quick time with Rob Mansfield top scoring with 18 not out.
