ROBERTS HITS A TON

Pembroke County Cricket League.

Win for Llechryd 2nds but defeat for Preselimen.
Division 4

Llechryd 2nds 159 for 1 (27) beat Saundersfoot 2nds 155 for 5 (5) by 9 wkts.

A wonderful innings of 101 not out by Llechryd skipper Ollie Roberts paved the way to a comfortable win for Llechryd 2nds at the expense of Saundersfoot 2nds.

Llechryd won the toss and Roberts asked Saundersfoot to bat first and his team which had plenty of options in terms of bowling could not quite break through the Saundersfoot first line due to the dogged determination of Steve Cook who scored 77 not out to hold the innings together.

Luke Palmer- Davies again showed his value as an opening bowler with 9 overs for 22 and crucially he took an early wicket. The Saundersfoot middle order struggled to come to terms with the bowling of Tom Beard, who returned very respectable figures of 9 overs, 3 wickets for 29 and did much to stem the flow of runs in the middle and end period of the innings.

A few dropped catches cost Llechryd and let the opposition off the hook but ground fielding was much improved and the Saundersfoot knock closed on 155 for 7 off 40 overs with the game very much in the balance.

Century for Ollie Roberts

The home innings started steady against some excellent bowling by Kevin Sykes (9-29-0) although there was always a steady stream of runs from the opposite end which relieved any pressure which may have built and Llechryd eventually ran away with the game quite comfortably. Roberts and co chased the total down in the 25th over for the loss of only one wicket. Andrew Fletcher produced a fine innings of 46 not out and captain Roberts finished on 101 not out which included fourteen boundaries.

Neyland 2nds 65 for 1 (30) beat Crymych 64 all out (2) by 9 wkts

There was no joy for Crymych as theyf ell to a heavy defeat against Neyland 2nds. The Preselimen struggled with the bat and posted a modest total of 64 all out with Keiran Allen ripping through the Crymych batting order and taking 6-11. James George and Dan Griffiths were the top scorers and both made 14 runs.
