SAINTS AND EMLYN THROUGH TO SEMI

Ceredigion League Cup

Quarter finals

Newcastle Emlyn and St Dogmaels enjoyed a comfortable route into the semi finals of the League Cup following wins over Bargod Rangers and Felinfach.

Cup holders Newcastle Emlyn trounced Costcutter second division outfit Bargod Rangers at Parc Puw where former blues player Jake Kelly helped rub salt in the home team wounds by bagging a hat trick.

There was very little to choose between the teams when they met a fortnight ago in the Cwpan Dai Dynamo but in drying conditions and on a lovely surface Emlyn were far too good on the day and the game was all but over at half time with the reds four goals ahead.

Jake Kelly

Two goals from Kelly including one from the spot and one apiece for Dion Phillips and Adrian Hazelby put the visitors in a commanding position and the second half was one way traffic for most of the period. Roving defender George Lowry added the fifth goal when he headed home from a corner, and this was followed up by goals from Hazelby, Kelly and Cory Davies.

Newcastle Emlyn will now play the winners of the tie between Ffostrasol and Aberaeron Reserves in the semi final.

St Dogmaels are another side bang in form and Steve Williams and his men joined Emlyn in the last four following a comfortable victory over Felinfach by 5-1 and the winning margin could and should have been many more as the saints missed a hatful of chances.

The greens had the game in the bag by half time as two goals from Louis Harding and one from Adam Williams was just reward for a fine all round team showing with none better than skipper Jason Williams at centre back and Craig Williams alongside him. Further goals after the break from striker Peter Almond with a corker of a shot and wing back Chris Morgan sealed the victory. The milkmen never gave up the fight and managed to snatch a late consolation effort from the penalty spot.

The Saints will take on the winners of the Llandysul v Lampeter Town quarter final in the next round.

Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies

Quarter Final
Padarn 0 Llandysul 4

Llandysul moved smoothly through to the semi finals of the Cwpan Dai Dynamo after they defeated Cambrian Tyres outfit Padarn United by 4-0 but the game was marred by a nasty injury to visiting player Liam Gordon. The former Pencader man and a recent signing for manager Chris Coco Davies had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes as a substitute before he fractured his kneecap in a tackle. All football followers will wish him a speedy recovery.

Simon Davies

It was Padarn who started the more lively of the sides and they created a few half chances but were unable to make them and the Swallows took the lead after 25 minutes when Simon Davies finished well after a great flick on from Carwyn Morgan. Scott Jones doubled the score when he fired home direct from a corner to put his team in at the break with a comfortable lead.

Two further goals after the break from front runner Davies to complete his hat trick secured a safe passage through to the last four.
