PAINFUL DEFEAT FOR BONT

Cambrian Tyres League Round up.

TURFS TOPPLE LEADERS BONT

Tregaron Turfs ran out convincing winners of the north Ceredigion derby by 4-1 to send arch rivals Bont the short journey home with their tails between their legs.

The reigning champions who were undefeated until last weekend were undone by goals from Ifan Jones, Llion Thomas and a brace from inform goal poacher Llyr Davies. Ben Lewis claimed the solitary goal for the visitors.

Bont remain top of the tree and are three points ahead of nearest rivals Bow Street Reserves but the Turfs are handily placed in third place just four points off the leaders but with two games in hand.

Talybont win

Talybont produced a superb all round performance to beat a strengthened Borth Reserves side by 3- 1. Mike Fitzpatrick opened the Talybont account from a free kick, Anthony Vasquez added to this with a poachers goal and a superb team effort finished by ex Borth player Osian Thomas completed the scoring for the home side.

Aberystwyth University Reserves were comfortable 3-0 winners over Machynlleth Reserves thanks to goals from Dylan Rhys Price, Kieran Jones and Daniele D’alessio

In the second division Padarn United Reserves enjoyed a well deserved win over Llanon despite going down to an early goal. The hosts started very brightly and would have been ahead in the opening minutes had it not been for the efforts of the Llanon keeper who pulled off a number of fine saves. The deadlock was eventually broken when against the run of play the visitors took the lead after they beat the Padarn offside trap to score a fine goal.

Padarn came back to level almost immediately with some lovely play from Sion Gittins and he set up James Graham who slotted home confidently and the hosts pressed hard in the second half and took the lead through Tony Mainwaring after being played in by Cameron James to make it 2-1.

Llanon though didn’t let their heads drop and kept pushing and almost got the equaliser only for the ball to hit the inside of the post and bounce away. Padarn then hit Llanon on the break and scored a crucial third goal through Billy Williams after being played in by man of the match Mathew Savage to seal the victory and take home the three points.
