JUST FOR MIKEY

Mikey Nicholas Charity Match

The bitterly cold weather failed to deter supporters at a special ladies football match held yesterday in memory of popular teenager Mikey Nicholas.
The eagerly awaited contest drew a healthy crowd to the School Field, St Dogmaels for the charity raising event to raise funds in memory of the young St Dogmaels FC footballer who sadly passed away recently.
Event organiser Jemma Lumb saluted those that came out and said: ”There was a tremendous turn-out on the touchline and I cannot thank you all enough for all your help and support.
“It was lovely to see our community come together and support each other on this sad time that St Dogmaels has had over the past two months.
Llandudoch, you are amazing, together we are one.We raised over £700 and never in my life have I met such a tight community. I’m proud to have spent most of my life in the village”.
“All money raised will go towards Michael’s memorial and anything the family needs. It’s also to raise awareness for young people to talk and come forward about their problems. No-one is alone.”
St Dogmaels manager Steve Williams said that it had been a brilliant day and he thanked all those who made the effort and added:” It was a cold afternoon but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the people who turned up and made it a memorable occasion.
“Thanks to all on behalf of St Dogmaels FC for your support and generosity.”
There was also a head shaving and leg waxing event and Saints footballer Tom Phillips sportingly had his head shaved for the charity and is seen pictured below, before and after!
