CRYMYCH BULL RUN ENDS

WRU Bowl round 3

C.O.B.R.A 22 Crymych 2nds 16

The fantastic run by Crymych Bulls was ended away at Cobra but the Preselimen can feel as proud as punch as they were outstanding on the day and with a bit more luck they could have sneaked through into the fourth round.

The visitors who had beaten Newcastle Emlyn 2nds and a Cardigan first team in the previous rounds took the game by the scruff from kick off with former Wales and Scarlets prop John Davies looking very lean following his recent Ironman Wales challenge, leading the charge alongside the likes of hooker Andrew Fletcher, second row Osian Evans and number eight Dylan Phillips.

The pressure exerted finally paid off when winger Llyr Edwards slotted over a penalty albeit helped considerably by a very strong wind advantage.

Crymych made good use of the wind assistance and fly half Tomos Rees kicked sensibly and the Pembrokeshire side were camped in Cobra territory for long periods and went further ahead with a try from Evans.

The visitors were reduced to fourteen men when a rash challenge produced a yellow card from the pocket of the official and the home side hit back with a try to make it 13-5.

The Bulls regrouped and went further ahead with another penalty from Edwards and they pushed hard for another try to make the wind advantage count but they were held up by some resilient defending from the mid Wales men.

Cobra got themselves back into the game after the break with a pushover try and a penalty minutes later before Crymych were penalised for some back chat and the ensuing penalty put Cobra ahead before they also lost a player to a yellow card offence.

It was game on going into the final ten minutes with Crymych still well in in touch just three points behind at 19-16 after conceding another penalty but crucially they fell further into arrears when they were penalised for some back chat and Cobra went 22-16 ahead and this was to be the final nail in the coffin and the end of a memorable run for the Pembrokeshire team.
