Fishguard and Goodwick 36 Tumble 34

A try from centre Mike Jenkins in the dying minutes sealed a welcome win for Fishguard at the expense of visitors Tumble.

The hosts who were behind for a long time fought their way back into this game and mounted a tremendous comeback to overhaul Tycroes with tries from Chris Shousa who bagged a couple and number eight Mark George in the second half.

The Magpies had gone in at the interval leading 19-24 and with the four try bonus point already in the bag through tries from wing Mike Edwards, centre Steffan Price who claimed two and wing Sam Jones. Captain Steven Hewitt also added two conversions whilst for the hosts no 8 Mark George crossed for a try as did winger James Reynolds and Chris Shousha .

The visitors led 34-26 with seven minutes to go but Fishguard would not throw the towel in and scored a converted try from Shousa to bring the score back to within three points at 26-29 and with just two minutes to go the Seagulls ran the ball from their own line and Jenkins crossed for an unconverted try in the corner to win the game 36-34.

Kidwelly 16 Crymych 15

A late penalty from hosts place kicker Gareth Rees denied Crymych what would have been a very welcome win at Parc Stephens.

The Preselimen who are without a league win this season twice led in this game and did enough to win but they were edged out when Rees fired over two second half penalties to sneak the verdict in this hard fought encounter.

Crymych found themselves 12-10 ahead at the break thanks to tries from impressive number eight Zachary France-Miller and busy flanker Sion Collela and a conversion from young centre Ifan Phillips and they were well worth their lead with the two back rowers shining alongside hard tackling blind side Dylan Phillips.

Scrum half Alex Davies with a try and a penalty and conversion from fly half Rees were the Kidwelly points scorers in the opening half.

There was little to choose between the teams after the break as the two packs of forwards cancelled each other out and half backs Phillips and Jake Jenkins were forced to live off scraps at times. Experienced centre Carwyn Phillips carried well and he and co centre Ifan Phillips put in some big tackles as did skipper and second row Rhys alongside Osian Davies whose work rate was equally impressive again this weekend.

Kidwelly though managed to hang and they came back strongly and went a point ahead with a penalty from Rees before Phillips responded for Crymych. But any hopes of a win were well and truly sunk late on when Rees added another three pointer to save the day for his team.

Aberystwyth 39 Tycroes 8

As expected Aberystwyth came through for a comfortable win over Tycroes at Plascrug but the visitors impressed at times in what was an entertaining match.

The Plascrug side were forced to make a few changes to their side and they went behind early on when James Owens kicked a penalty but the hosts bounced back with a try from Robbie Parry which Llyr Thomas converted.

Thomas crossed for a try soon afterwards following some pressure exerted at the scrum by Aber and a third try followed when Lee Gower collected a loose kick well and fed Mat Hughes and the ball was sent out to centre Tom Evans who crossed for a bonus point try.

Some clever interplay from a scrum inside the Tycroes 22m line lead to Gower scoring a fine individual try and following yet more good work centre Carwyn Evans crossed close to the posts, for Thomas to convert to bring the half to a close at 29-3.

Arwel Lloyd added another try fifteen minutes after the break when he cut a good line and barged his way over from close range

Aber continued to play good rugby and after a delicate chip from Matt Hughes, Arwel Lloyd was first to react and ground the ball just short of the dead ball line.

Tycroes outside half Dean Bromham went over for a consolation try late on when he fielded his own kick ahead and this was converted by James Owens to complete the scoring at 39-8.
