South Wales Cricket Association.
Division 1
Aberdare 186-8 (50 overs)
Llandysul 188 for 2 (47 overs)

Llandysul moved out of the relegation zone for the first time this season after they picked up a timely win away at third placed Aberdare.

The Tir Dref men have struggled for most of this term and have looked odds on relegation material but two wins out of three have given them a lifeline and another win at home this weekend against Gorseinon could put them clear of danger.

The hosts elected to bat first and this decision looked to have backfired on them early when opener Gareth Wesley was caught behind off the bowling of Colin Tucker and he was quickly followed back to the shed by Mathew Veale who failed to contribute with Mike Turner taking a smart catch off Arfon Jones.

Aberdare faced an uphill task at 6-2 but Steve Manning and Mike Weathersby took the score along to 59 with Manning hitting two big sixes and another decent partnership developed between opener Weathersby and Liam Hughes and they put on forty runs for the fourth wicket. Hughes who top scored with a patient 60 then steered his team to a total of 186-8.

There were two wickets apiece for Mike Turner, Ieuan Paske and skipper Andrew Edwards with the batsmen taking a shine to the bowling of the Llandysul captain!

The visitors who were without the services of all rounders Rhidian Harries and Iestyn Evans made a solid start but a partnership of 34 between Ieuan Paske and fellow opener Gary Williams was broken when the latter was caught by Manning. However a superb partnership of 107 between Paske and Ben Edkins took Llandysul on to 141 with Edkins hitting 6 fours in his total of 66.

Llewellyn Hughes joined Paske at the crease and the two of them guided their team to a comfortable victory with plenty of overs and wickets to spare with Paske carrying his bat for a score of 61 and Hughes making a useful 29 not out.

Division 6 West.
Llanwrda CC 236 for 4
Llandysul 2nds 223 for 9

In division six west a wonderful century from Llanwrda opener Nigel Clarke paved the way for an exciting win over Llandysul 2nds.

http://www.cenarth-holipark.co.uk/coracles/Clarke and Davies put on an opening stand of 104 before the latter was bowled by Dan Thomas but a 56 not out from number four batsman Cerith Rees helped the score along to a healthy total of 236 -4 with Thomas taking 2-22 off five overs. Clarke who was eventually out caught by Aled Jones for 119 crossed the ropes 19 times.

Not to be outdone Llandysul opener Gareth Chapple hit a brisk 85 which included 8 fours and a six and at 154-2 the visitors looked on course for a memorable win. However despite a huge effort Huw Evans and his men fell agonisingly short at 223-8 despite sterling contributions from Meurig Jones who made 69 and Joe Swift who hit 29.
