LLECHRYD CRUISE TO A WIN

Pembroke County Cricket

Division 2

An impressive spell of bowling from Llechryd veteran Peter Betterley helped steer his team to a comfortable win over Llanrhian at the Castell Malgwyn fields.

Betterley ripped through the visitors middle order and took 4-19 and he was well supported by another former Cardigan all rounder in Leighton O Connor who took three wickets.

Batting on a greenish wicket the hosts made steady progress through Ollie Roberts who built a patient innings of 51 before he was caught plumb in front of the sticks and he found a useful ally in Llewellyn Ladd who was unbeaten on 34 and captain Andrew Davies chipped in with 18 runs late on to push the hosts on to 152-6 and a score that looked achievable until Betterley and co let rip.

Mathew Bennet with 2-39 and Dafydd Williams with 2-36 were the best of the Llanrhian bowlers.

Llanrhian who were missing a few key batsmen were always struggling and although Paul Lewis with 27 and Ben Jones with the same score batted superbly they ran out of partners and the visitors were all out for 73.
