Bay Cup holders Llandysul progressed smoothly through to the quarter finals after they defeated Cilgerran Rovers by 4-1.

The Swallows who are chasing a hat trick of trophies after picking up the J.Emrys Morgan Cup and Costcutter League championship in recent weeks took tie to settle at Parc Y Dre but eventually found the net on 20 minutes when Ben Thomas headed home from a Lewis Jones free kick. Wideman Scott Thomas doubled the visitors lead on the hour and this was followed by the goal of the game from Jones who latched on to a through ball from Mathew Newbold and Jones calmly chipped the keeper and ran past him to poke the ball home from close range.

In division one league cup winners Newcastle Emlyn suffered an Easter Monday hangover as they went down to a youthful Stars team by 2-0 and as a result the league runners up spot has been thrown wide open .Newcastle Emlyn never got going and to their credit they were full of praise for the Llanddewi villagers as they continue to establish themselves back in the top flight of the Costcutter league.

It took half an hour for the Stars to take the lead when Ian Hamilton in the Emlyn goal, who pulled off some outstanding saves, notably from Rupert Geddes and Ifan Thomas, made his only mistake of the afternoon as he failed to collect a harmless looking corner. Veteran Andrew Jones was the quickest to react to the loose ball to give his team an interval lead.

Fifteen minutes after the break 16 year old Rupert Geddes turned on a sixpence on the edge of the box to drill home an excellent second goal which gave the diving Hamilton no chance. Dion Davies, Huw Jones ,Ben Thomas and player manager Owain Thomas tried to rally their team but the Stars held firm to complete what was for them an excellent victory against one of the top sides in the league.

Crannog gained sweet revenge for a heavy defeat earlier in the season at the King George with a 5-0 success over the Magpies. Two goals from experienced forward Gary Davies and one apiece from Rhys Davies,Mike Glover and Marc Davies saw them safely through for the three points.

The visitors caught the greens cold in the opening minutes when they went a goal up but Steve Williams team hit back with a goal from Adam Williams who went on to complete a very fine hat trick. Others to score for Saints were Rhys Jones, Tom Rogers and John Midgley with the best of the game.

New Quay beat local rivals Aberaeron Reserves by 2-1 in a hard fought encounter. The opening quarter was a very tight affair but it was Aberaeron who opened the scoring but New Quay fought back and levelled matters when Anthony Conlon netted from a free kick.

The visitors were awarded a penalty late in the game when Nathan Davies was brought down inside the box but Charlie Dent who scored from the spot was made to retake the penalty after players had strayed into the box. Dent though made no mistake again with his second attempt and calmly stroked it into the bottom corner. Aberaeron had a great chance to equalise in the dying minutes through Robbie Evans but he was thwarted by a last ditch tackle by Jason Thomas and New Quay claimed the three points.

Lampeter closed in on the runners up spot after they fired three past Felinfach without reply.

Division two champions Ffostrasol all but ended any hopes that Maesglas had of clinching promotion with a 8-2 hammering at Parc Troedrhiw. The Blues now have to hope that Pencader who have five games in hand over the Maes Radley side come unstuck in the last few weeks of the season.

On target for the Wanderers were Aled Rumble who claimed a hat trick, Gwynfor Bowen with two, Dion Davies, Alun Bowen and Carwyn Morgan. In the other game played in the division Llanboidy edged out Aberporth by 2-1 thanks to goals from Celt Jones and Chris Court.
