MIXED RESULTS FOR SEAGULLS

MID WALES FOOTBALL.

BOW STREET & ABERAERON

Spar Mid Wales Division One

Aberaeron return to league action this weekend when they entertain Machynlleth and the seagulls will be looking to improve on their seventh position in division one.

The seasiders experienced a mixed festive season and came well and truly unstuck in the Boxing Day clash with local rivals Bow Street with the North Ceredigion outfit running out convincing winners in a feisty clash that brought out yellow and red cards from the book of official Eirian Morgan.

A festive brace from Tom Williams set Street on their way and goals from Dean Evans and Tom Evans completed the rout.

Jason Jones and his men bounced back on New Years Eve with a 2-2 draw away at Tywyn Bryncrug with a much improved performance. The hosts who have experienced a difficult campaign and who are currently third from bottom battled hard to earn a share of the spoils through goals from Tom Allen Davies and Aled Jones whilst Sion Clarke and David Evans netted for the visitors

Bow Street were unable to repeat the five of the best they racked up against rivals Aberaeron on Boxing Day but they were still good value for a hard-earned goalless draw with division high fliers Carno at Cae Piod on New Year’s Eve.

Scoring opportunities were relatively scarce on this occasion with defences on top with Richie Evans and Ioan Humphreys enjoying the best two openings of the first half for the visitors, and Harry Holt was also unlucky as he had a goal ruled out.

Bow Street also created the best chance of the second half, but keeper Kris Williams made a smart save with his feet, whilst at the other end Ben Jones saw a late effort go straight at the keeper off a corner as the Greens failed to score for the first time this season. (pics by Beverley Hemmings)

This weekend fifth placed Bow Street play at Rhadnor Valley.
