THOMAS CALLS FOR IMPROVEMENTS

FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Newcastle Emlyn v Felinfach

Newcastle Emlyn joint manager Owain Thomas has called for his players to produce a positive reaction tonight after the 5-0 drubbing they received at the hands of Llandysul last Friday evening.

The reds entertain Felinfach at Parc Emlyn and Thomas says he is looking for improvements in several areas of the pitch following a disastrous night that he and his team will want to forget very quickly.

“ We need to recover as everyone involved got a reality check after the first half performance last week but the boys have responded well so far in training this week but I will be making a few changes to the side I put out last week.

http://www.ocdavies.com/“We definitely need to improve defensively as we kept three clean sheets in a row before our last two games and we have to keep the ball a lot better as we don’t seem as composed as we were a few weeks ago.”

Llandysul were home and dry after about half an hour last week following a goal scoring onslaught and the reds were left shell shocked but they won’t play a team in that sort of form very often and Thomas and co are not out of the race for the title as there is a very long way to go.

Two or three injuries to a team can make a huge difference as well as the levelling influence of poor winter weather and Thomas and co need to move on and move up into a position where they can take advantage if the top two in Llandysul and Lampeter Town slip up at all.

Felinfach will be hoping to exploit any lack of confidence in the Emlyn ranks early on and look for the likes of Lee Forrester and Kieran Boyes to get amongst the goals. The milkmen have only picked up two wins so far and a success at Parc Emlyn would be a big boost. Victory for Emlyn would put them back into the runners up slot just ahead of Lampeter who play tomorrow at Drefach.
