A grand total of £9000 was donated to a number of local good causes at the 30th Annual Cardigan & District Pool League presentation evening held at the Cardigan rugby clubhouse.
Trophies were presented to players for their successes over the season and there was a special presentation to the family of the late pool player and former Cardigan rugby player Jeff ‘Fly’ Jones.
The former landlord of the Hope & Anchor public house in the town was a very keen and accomplished pool player and he won the super veterans championship seven times, the veterans championship four times and the open pairs championship on two occasions.
Three of his children Paul, Chris and Tracey accepted the Super Veterans trophy on behalf of their late father who was the reigning champion, but who recently passed away. (sons Simon and Dai were unable to attend) They were also presented with a cheque for £750 to be donated to the RNLI station at Poppit Sands, which was their chosen worthy cause and one which was supported by their late father who was a former skipper of a Seine fishing boat in the Teifi Estuary.
