Costcutter round up-League Cup and lower divisions.
League Cup–Round 1.
Lampeter produced a superb all round team performance to cruise through into the last sixteen of the League Cup at the expense of New Quay at Cae Arthur.
Luke Lovell and his men went close with a number of openings in the first half hour after starting the game at a great pace and they kept possession effectively and created chance after chance.
The best of these in the early stages fell to Lovell whose header was superbly tipped on to the bar by the New Quay goalkeeper and the same player on any other day could have had a hat trick in the first half alone, playing really well and creating openings but his finishing was wayward.
A goal though finally arrived when a back heel from Lovell put midfielder Scott Davies away down the flank and he crossed for Gethin Davies to net. A second goal came just after the break when experienced campaigner Mark Rivers fired home and this then opened up the floodgates as further goals from Rivers, Scott Davies with two, Steve Lovell, Gethin Davies and Szymon Konwiak with the best of these coming from Steve Lovell following some neat one touch football.
St Dogmaels also secured a safe passage through to the latter stages after they beat Aberporth by 2-0. The Saints dominated the game for long periods and missed a succession of chances before they finally took the lead through Rhys Jones with a superb effort and the talented teen added another late on to complete the win.
Goalkeeper Ryan Banks was outstanding for the airmen and pulled off some super saves to deny the visitors.
Division Two.
Pencader came out on top in the match of the day in Division Two but if the Blues had converted a first half penalty with the hosts just a goal up it could well have been a different outcome. The visitors created a few decent chances with Dan Jones in particular presented with a great opportunity to get the Blues back in the game but his shot flew over the bar. Paul Jones and co though were indebted to keeper Graham Keen for making some very good saves.
Talented striker Samba Ndong was handed a golden opportunity after he had been upended in the box but he sent a timid penalty wide of the posts not long after Pencader had taken the lead through an Ashley Summers shot and this miss came back to haunt him as a late goal from Owen Broom completed the win.
Fellow title contenders Ffostrasol increased their lead at the top after they beat Llanboidy by 2-0 with goals from Carwyn Morgan and Gethin Davies from the penalty spot.
In the Reserves Cup leaders Llandysul notched their fifth win of the campaign after they accounted for Llanboidy at Cae Dandre by 6-0. Kayle Poulton opened the scoring after only two minutes and further goals soon followed through Chris Harries who bagged a brace, Poulton who completed his hat trick and Scott Leask.
Goals from Jake Shakespeare and a penalty from Wayne Jones steered Newcastle Emlyn Reserves to a 2-0 win over Cardigan Town at the King George Field.
Crannog also enjoyed a narrow win as they defeated their Ffostrasol counterparts by 2-1 with goals from Scott Elder and Martin Ferris.
