Lampeter Town coasted to victory in the opening round of the Cwpan Dai Dynamo when they fired six past Penrhyncoch Reserves and Luke Lovell and his team who may face holders Cardigan Town in the next round will take some beating on this form.
Skipper Lovell and his men travelled north with several regulars missing including two who were forced to pull out at the last minute with midfielder Christy Gale dropping out through illness and centre back Carwyn Gregson who had just become a dad also having a very good excuse.
Lampeter though started well and took an early lead and never really looked back after this. Gethin Hunter opened the scoring with a cool finish and skipper Lovell then hit a quick fire hat trick to put his team almost out of sight with one goal from each foot capped off with header.
Scott Davies won a penalty after the break which Terry Witts calmly converted and Gethin Hunter rounded the keeper to get his second and kill off the opposition. Penrhyn managed to poach a consolation goal and it was a good effort from distance but Lampeter were never really troubled.
Llandysul who will also take some stopping, emerged comfortable winners at Tregaron following another good all round performance from the Swallows.
The visitors opened their account on ten minutes when Scott Thomas ran through and was upended in the box and Dean Jones tucked away the penalty. Adrian Hazelby made it 2-0 when he scored from acute angle. Tregaron though looked very dangerous especially on the break and with a bit more composure they would have scored a few.
However once the third goal was duly despatched by Ben Thomas the game was truly over and after the break Terry Maynard banished any thoughts of a Turfs come back when he hit a 20 yard volley into the roof of the net.
Cilgerran Rovers recovered well after being two goals down against Dewi Stars to book their place in round two.
The Stars made a superb start and went two goals up through a superb lob from Ryan Hurrell and a scrambled effort from veteran Andrew Jones but Cilgerran replied with a goal from Dan Bellis who volleyed home an Olli Evans cross and John Williams who got his head to another pin point cross from Evans.
Gary Evans put the Coraclemen ahead after the break when he headed home from a corner and confidence was well up after this as the hosts played some splendid football and the fourth goal duly arrived when Louis Harding raced down the right wing to cross to Oli Evans who finished at the front post. Gary Evans grabbed his second to kill the game off and Olli Evans rounded off a fine individual showing with the sixth. Midfielder Jones added a second goal for the Stars late on.
St Dogmaels were forced to work very hard to get through by 3-2 against a full of fight Bargod Rangers team at the School Field. Goals from Rhys Jones and Chris Jones were cancelled out by Rangers when Jay Shae and Rhydian Davies netted but the Saints sneaked through when Marcus Dean grabbed a winner late in the second half.
Aberporth, who have endured a few difficult weeks, enjoyed an easy win over Machynlleth Reserves at the RAE ground by 5-1 with all the goals coming in the first half. The airmen went ahead when eighteen year old Dan Davies fired home with a brilliant strike and Johnny Kinsella added to this with two well crafted goals. ‘Mach’ responded with their opener but the home team took the game away with further goals from Chris Jones and Craig Wilkes.
Ffostrasol came from behind to eventually level at 3-3 against Padarn before they were undone at a penalty shoot out. The visitors took a two goal lead after only 20 minutes before the Wanderers hit back through Iolo Thomas and he and his team mates took the lead after the break thanks to two very good goals from Dion Phillips. Ffostrasol who were starting to think about their second round game were then caught cold when Padarn nicked an equaliser to take the tie into extra time.
The visitors drew first blood and went ahead after ten minutes but Marc Bowen equalised and with the match all square after extra time it required penalties to separate the teams with the visitors coming through for a win.
Crannog were far too good for Llanon with brothers Rhys and Dylan Davies both bagging hat tricks and Mathew Smith going one better with four goals. Others to score in this one sided romp were Steffan Jones who claimed two and skipper Mike Glover.
Second division outfit Pencader faced an inform Bow Street Reserves team without a number of key players but they still managed to come away with a win. The windy conditions made life difficult especially for the visitors as they were 2-0 down at half time against the elements. However they turned things around in the second half with two goals from Ashley Summers and in the final quarter they pinched a winner when Daniel Jones netted to claim a brilliant win for Kevin Evans and his men.
A severely weakened Maesglas outfit were well beaten away at Bont by 5-0 whilst at Talybont, Llanboidy lost out narrowly by 2-1 with Celt Thomas Jones netting for them.
