CARDI’S UP FOR All BLACKS TEST

Division 3 West leaders Cardigan will travel to Neyland determined not to slip up after a superb performance against title rivals Milford Haven on Saturday and coach Colin Horscroft has picked another very strong team with captain Llyr Griffiths coming back into the starting line up alongside Colin Davies at six and Kieran Hurley at open side. Hurley has consistently put in the biggest tackle counts all season and was missed last week especially when the ball was loose on the floor and the balance of this back row trio may suit them better.

Rob Connolly, who was outstanding against the Mariners lines up alongside Dan Evans and Horscroft has gone for the same front row combination of Will Brice, Rhys Brock and Richard Jones who were so impressive last time out.

Aaron Evans resumes his half back partnership with fly half Luke Rogers and the tough tackling pair of Marcus Castle and Emyr Harries line up at centre with Llyr Jones and Tomos Rees on the wings and Alun Jenkins at full back.

On the bench blind side Gethin Jones is a touch unlucky not to start but the powerfull ball carrier will be a very useful asset in the second half as will fellow back rower Gareth Clifford and experienced fly half Iestyn Crompton will be invaluable especially if things go a bit awry. Prop Ifan James and second row Steff Crompton are the other two on the bench.

Neyland recorded their first win of the season on the weekend when they beat a Pembroke Dock Quins outfit yet to taste success but the All Blacks conceded 24 points and they will have to sharpen up their defence against Cardigan at the Athletic Ground.

It is certainly not going to be a walk in the park for skipper Griffiths and co as the All Blacks have some quality in outside half Ashley Sutton, inside centre Mark Rile and wing Ben Goodridge but they could face a long afternoon if the Cardigan pack play as well as they did last week.
