CHAMPIONS CARDIGAN HOST OLD RIVALS CILGERRAN

PREVIEW: FOOTBALL TONIGHT-

Champions Cardigan Town tackle local rivals and division new boys Cilgerran this evening at the King George field (6.30) and Neil Morgan and his men will relish this opportunity to ruffle a few Magpies feathers.

Town are a much changed outfit from the one that lifted the title in exciting fashion just a few months ago but there is still plenty of talent left behind with none better than skipper and caretaker manager Iestyn Evans and he scored two cracking goals in midweek against Maesglas in a friendly.

A huge loss to Town has been the transfer of midfielder Dylan Davies to Crannog as he has been probably the most consistent Cardigan player over the last two seasons and very much an unsung hero. His tireless work rate and important goals will be sorely missed.

Rovers manager Morgan is able to pick from a full squad and the team will be led by key playmaker Gary Evans and he and his team will enjoy having a crack at Cardigan in this Costcutter opener.

Newcastle Emlyn have a few injury worries following their heavy defeat at the hands of Porthcawl on Saturday and will expect a tough encounter against a Saints team that are rebuilding under new manager Chris Thomas. Centre back Jason Williams will lead the team and he will face his brother Adam Williams who will don the red shirt of Emlyn for the first time in a Costcutter match.

Talented teen Rhys Jones will be an important link between the greens midfield and attack and he will have experienced old head Ioan Owen on his shoulder.

Llandysul entertain Lampeter Town and this should be a tight affair between two of the more fancied sides in the division. The Swallows appear to have a very solid all round team with dangerous front men in Adrian Hazelby and Simon Davies and a strong spine to their team. Lampeter though as usual will be tough to put away and they will be looking to go one better this term and lift the title under new skipper Luke Lovell despite having lost a clutch of experienced players through retirement.

Crannog will be quietly confident of adding to their silverware this season as they have a good all round team and they have been boosted by a couple of new signings in Mark Davies from New Quay and Dylan Davies from Cardigan.

They always make themselves very hard to beat as they possess tough competitors in key positions epitomised by hard tackling midfielder Huw Reed alongside Rhys Davies and his brother Dylan who has just joined him at Llangrannog. The Urdd men may well surprise a few teams this season and a much changed Bargod Rangers outfit can expect a tough examination this evening.

Felinfach tackle Aberaeron and will look to the likes of Lee Forrester, Eilir Evans and Rhys James to steer them to an opening win against their local rivals.
