Pembrokeshire League Division 3
Crymych 49 all out
Llechryd 50-1
The eagerly awaited division three local derby on Saturday turned out to be a bit of a damp squib as the action was all but over before the tea urn had a chance to boil !
Crymych who are without a win after eight starts looked to be mounting a decent target at 30-2 but a huge collapse soon followed and they were eventually skittled out for 49 at Glandy Cross.
The Division three leaders, who increased their lead at the top of the table mixed up their batting line up with skipper John Curran pushing himself down the order to give others an opportunity but this never happened as his team got over the line for the loss of only one wicket.
All rounder Mike Godfrey did most of the damage to the Crymych batting line up as he took five wickets whilst conceding only eleven runs. Mark Newell also chipped in with a couple of wickets.
Opening bowler Carwyn Davies struck early for Crymych when he dismissed Gwion Howells but this was to be his teams only wicket as experienced left handed batsman Steve Smith steadied the ship and carried his bat for 25 as his team coasted to victory at 50-1 and just in time to watch Wales defeat Slovakia!
Division 4
Llechryd seconds missed out on a victory and had to settle for a winning draw against Burton 2nds but the 18 points collected has pushed them up the table. The Castell Malgwyn based team posted a score of 219-5 with Andrew Davies top scoring with 58 and he had excellent support from both Mark Jones with 45 and Paul Beasley who made 39. Burton though looked handily placed as they got very close to the two hundred mark with Andrew Cromwell hitting a superb 87 not out but his team eventually ran out of overs and finished on 195-5.
