Newcastle Emlyn Girls 4 Llangyfelach Girls 1 (under 14’s)
Newcastle Emlyn followed up their superb success at Parc Emlyn last weekend in the West section final to defeat East section winners Llangyfelach by 4-1 at Bwlch near Llanelli.
The reds fell behind to an early goal and against the run of play despite playing some great football and enjoying the lion’s share of possession and were unlucky to go into the break a goal down.
However the visitors came out all guns blazing and levelled matters after only a minute when Cara Currado was on target and this sparked off purple patch that produced three goals through the Jenkins sisters of Eloise, Nieve and Flavia Jenkins to knock the stuffing out of the opposition.
The hosts though battled their way back into the game and the reds defence was put under a great deal of pressure at times but goal keeper Saran Jones and her back four of Elin Williams, Lauren Jones, Pippa Richards and Rebecca Plowright absorbed everything thrown at them and managed to see off the visitors challenge right up until the final whistle.
The Reds who under coach Dylan Jones went through the season unbeaten finished the season off in style and coach Jones paid tribute to all their hard work and said:” This was another impressive and very solid performance from each and every one of the players and I would like to thank the squad and the parents for all their hard work and commitment throughout the season.
