HOCKEY-TOP SEASON FOR LLANDYSUL
Llandysul Hockey Club celebrated a fantastic season at their annual dinner held at The Porth Hotel, Llandysul on Saturday evening.
The Teifi valley side were crowned champions of division two of the South Wales Hockey Leagues and they narrowly missed out on a glorious double after they were edged out by local rivals Newcastle Emlyn in the Hockey Wales Trophy Final. The reds sneaked through on penalties after the two teams had been locked at 2-2 in what was a nail biter of a match which could so easily have gone the other way. Llandysul clinched the league title with two games to spare returning figures of played 20, won 18 and lost two.
Defender Kelly Davies was chosen as the players player of the year, Michelle Davies was top scorer of the year and the young player of the year was Crisial Gwenllian.
Erin Morgan will take over the captaincy next season with Gwenno Thomas as her vice-captain.
Sportsline would like to thank Gwyneth Ayers for her reports and information throughout the season and congratulations to Clwb Hoci Llandysul on a superb campaign.
