Costcutter League round up.
Division One
Lampeter Town produced one of their best all round performances of the season to go ten points clear at the top of the table and with just seven games to play Terry Jones and co look unstoppable.
The North Road men head the likes of St Dogmaels,Llandysul and Newcastle Emlyn who all have games in hand over the leaders but it would surely take nothing less than an end of season collapse to prevent them from regaining the championship they last won in season 2008-09.
Manager Jones confirmed that he was delighted with the way his time came from a goal down to overrun a young Cardigan Town outfit who also played some decent football at times but who were outplayed after the break.
Talented town playmaker Ben Davies fired the visitors ahead with a superb shot from the edge of the box but this proved to be just the wake up call Lampeter needed as they upped the tempo after this and equalized on the half hour when Scott Davies robbed a town a defender and slipped the ball to Jason Jones to score.
The confidence amongst the hosts soon grew and Marc Evans made it 2-1 when he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and beat the keeper with a left foot strike.
Front runner Jones increased the home lead when he used his pace to outrun the town defence and then deftly lobbed the keeper from outside the penalty box to make it 3-1 at the break.
Marc Evans killed the game off early in the second half when he scored from a header and very soon after this team captain Terry Witts made a late run into the box and slipped the ball home from close range to make it 5-1. Further goals from Evans to complete a perfect hat trick with his right foot and substitute Rhys Douglas completed the 7-1 rout.
Ffostrasol who are currently locked in a relegation battle with Dewi Stars and Cilgerran Rovers picked up what could turn out to be a very valuable point after they held Crannog to a 3-3 draw at the Urdd Centre.
Division Two
Aberporth moved to within just three points of leaders Llanboidy after they thrashed Lampeter Reserves at the RAE ground. On target for the airmen was John Midgley who completed a hat trick, Dan Davies who along with Joel Tanner netted a brace, Liam Griffiths, James King and Jedd Townsend.
Goals from Josh Harris and John Buck helped steer Newcastle Emlyn reserves to a 2-0 win over Maesglas and there was a welcome win for New Quay who defeated Crannog Reserves by 4-2.
The match between Llandysul Res and Llanboidy was called off.
Division Three/Reserves Cup
Llanboidy Reserves were far too good for a nine man SDUC outfit and the Cae Dandre side helped themselves to 15 goals without reply.
Gethin Scourfield was the star of the show as he bagged four goals, front runner Ellis Williams claimed a hat trick and there were two apiece for Richard Thorne, Steff Lee and Steff Thomas.
Will Hermatige and Declan Harries also got in on the act and claimed a goal each.
The matches between Felinfach Res and St Dogmaels Res and Maesglas Reserves v Ffostrasol Reserves were postponed.
