Tregaron 18 Cardigan 33
Cardigan came out on top in the Ceredigion division three derby to make it two wins on the bounce and cap a fine start for their new coaching set up.
This entertaining affair which was played out on a superb strip went end to end in the opening half hour although Tregaron were given plenty of help with the visitors losing flanker Dafydd Rotie and hooker Luke Palmer Davies to yellow card offences for killing the ball.
Cardigan outside half Llyr Jones opened the scoring with a try which was converted by centre Emyr Harries before the team captain crashed over for the second try which he also converted. The hosts came back strongly and carried well and they were rewarded with a try from right winger Hefin Ebenezer.
Cardigan number eight and player coach Colin Davies powered his way over for his teams third try of the game after some impressive sequences of phase play but the loss of two forwards through yellow card offences allowed Tregaron to hit back with a try from centre Melfyn Davies which was converted by outside half Gwion Phillips to make the score 19-12 at the break.
The visitors dominated for long periods in the second half with their scrum and line out working efficiently with experienced back rower Davies continually making the hard yards and keeping his team on the front foot. It came as no surprise when Cardigan pulled further away with second try from skipper Harries, converted by fly half Jones and this was followed up by another try for number eight Davies which Harries converted. Tregaron though came back strongly forcing their opponents to transgress and they reduced the deficit with a couple of penalties from stand off Phillips.

ardigan received their third yellow of the match when outstanding forward Davies was sin binned but they never really looked like losing this derby game and were worthy winners in the end by 33-18
Speaking after the game Cardigan coach Davies said:” That was a good performance and we all stuck together and showed how tight we are as a unit.
“We are over the moon with the performances of our young players in Dafydd Rotie, Geraint Williams Osian Rees and Luke Palmer Davies who I thought were all outstanding and I am just looking forward to the next fixture.
“ I would like to thank everyone at our club for their support and patience as we all know we are building for the future and it is going the right way.”
