BOW STREET HIT BACK

Spar mid Wales League

and Cambrian Tyres League Round up
Division 1

Bow Street 5 Radnor Valley 0

Bow Street comfortably won their first home game of the season in the Spar mid Wales League to help erase the memory of their heavy defeat at Borth last Tuesday.

Played in blustery conditions, the home side who took a 2-0 lead into the break won comfortably and fully deserved their three points.

Andrew Gittins opened the scoring very early on and fifteen minutes later he was fouled in the area resulting in Mark Gornall, on his debut, scoring from the penalty spot.

In a dominant second half, Bow Street scored three further goals through Gittins again and Steffan Richards who scored twice.

Radnor were awarded a penalty in injury time but Ben Willis produced a superb save to deny him.

Speaking after the game manager Barry Williams said:” I am delighted that the boys hit back today after a below par performance against Borth.

“ It was a solid all-round performance but praise has to be given to the front three of Tom Evans, Andrew Gittins and Steff Richards for all their hard work. Their non-stop running and endeavour gave the Radnor defence a torrid afternoon’

Meanwhile, all attention turns towards their mouth-watering clash with Aberaeron at Cae Piod this Wednesday evening.

Aberaeron who lost out to Llanrheadr in the season opener produced a much improved performance but it was still short of the mark and they went down by 3-2 at Llanfair United for whom Andrew Hughes, Daniel Jones and Josh Astley netted. Chris Wilkins and Nathan Warren were on target for the seagulls. The seasiders will be looking to bounce back with a win at Bow Street this week.

Llanidloes sneaked through by 2-1 at Llanrheadr but the hosts missed out on a share of the spoils as they had a penalty kick saved in the last minute. The match between Knighton Town and Carno ended in a 2-2 stalemate with the visitors twice coming from back from a goal behind.
