League Division 2

Llechryd (108 for 6) beat Saundersfoot (107 all out)

Llechryd won the toss and opted to field.

Another superb spell of bowling from Llechryd seamer Graham Keen helped steer his team to a comfortable win over Saundersfoot at the RDM Oval.

Fifer for Graham Keen

The accuracy of Keen, who managed to get the ball to swing in the air, caused the visitors no end of problems and he returned figures of 5-29 off his 8.5 overs to push his team up the table into third place.

The visitors started solidly and were well led by experienced opener Paul Mansbridge but they found it difficult to get the opening attack of veteran left armer Peter Betterley and Keen away and wickets tumbled early with Steve Smith taking a very smart catch in the slips and James Betterley doing similar at deep mid wicket.

Mansbridge was the top run getter for Saundersfoot and he made 40 but he was the only one batsman of note with Gareth Edwards 12, Steve Cook 14 and Sam Franklin 14, helping the score along but not making any real impact.

Leighton O Connor keeping it tight

The south Pembrokeshire side were eventually all out for 107 with Keen helping himself to a fifer for the second week on the trot and first change bowlers Leighton O’Connor 1-18) and James Betterley 1- 9 keeping a tight rein along with James Henneker 2 -19.

The visiting score was well short against a home side in good form but there was still plenty in the wicket in the damp atmosphere and the hosts were also without prolific scoring batsman John Curran who was away on a stag party and early wickets went down to offer Saundersfoot some hope of a result.

However left handed batsmen Steve Smith who was having his first real knock of the season following a toe injury led the way with a cameo innings of 31 and all rounder Leighton O Connor who was unlucky not to pick up a few more wickets during his spell scored 22 with some lusty blows and Dewi Davies also chipped in with 10 to see Llechryd through for a comfortable win by four wickets.

Division 4

Kilgetty 56 all out lost to Crymych 60-4.

A fine spell of bowling from Ioan Davies (4-21) helped skittle out Kilgetty for just 56 to earn his team their sixth win of the season.

The Preselimen who have joined Llechryd 2nds in second place in the table made the best use of winning the toss in the damp conditions and they struck early through Davies and the Kilgetty batsmen struggled with none managing to trouble the scorers.

Top run maker Richard Thorne didn’t hang about and he made a brisk 26 as Crymych cruised to victory at 60-4.

Hundleton 128 for 8 drew with Llechryd 2nds 173 for 5

Llechryd 2nds were held to a draw away at Hundleton after their bowlers failed to nail the last two wickets but the conditions were very tough as the rain fell intermittently and the ball was wet throughout.

The visitors posted a decent total of 173-5 in blustery conditions with none better than all rounder Jack Davies who hit his second half century of the season. Another to impress was Josh Ward who made 44 and not far behind him was in form batter Andrew Fletcher who hit 36. Greg Davies added a bit of excitement at the end of the innings with two big sixes in the final over to take his total to 17. Chris Stapleton was the pick of the home bowlers and he took three wickets.

The Teifisiders looked set for victory at one point with Martin Kiss 4-21 and Scott Thomas 2-19 causing a few problems and veteran wicket keeper Charlie Grant taking one superb one handed catch but Hundleton hung on in there and managed to bat out and finish on 128-8 after their 40 overs. Jonathan Williams with 32 and John Tysoe 28, were the best of the home batsmen.
