Division One
Llandysul 185 all out (7 points)
Aberdare 189-6 (26 points)
A beautifully crafted innings of 86 by opener Gary Williams which included 11 fours and a six and a superb half century from middle order batsman Llewellyn Hughes failed to stop visitors Aberdare from pulling off a four wicket win at Parc Tir Y Dref.
The hosts who elected to bat first were keen to get back to winning ways following a disappointing start to the season went a wicket down very early when opener Barry Thomas was clean bowled by Nathan Spain for two but Rhydian Harries came in and steadied the ship to take the score on to 49 before he was trapped in front of his middle stump for 14.
Llewellyn Hughes who hit eight boundaries and Williams combined to take the score on to 123 with an outstanding partnership of 74 before Hughes departed off the bowling of Geoff Derrick but Tom Harries kept the run rate going with a useful 19 before a major collapse that saw four wickets tumble for the addition of only five runs.
Chris Hughes helped cause the mayhem with 3-36 off seven overs and he was assisted by Amir Ikram who returned figures of 4-22 off just eight overs as Llandysul closed on 185 all out and probably 30 runs short of what they had planned for at 178-4!
Aberdare made a similar start to their opponents and lost the wicket of opener Liam Derrick early on before opener Mike Weathersby who made 82 not out and number four bat Mathew Veale took the score on to 75-3. All rounder Luke Garthwaite chipped in with an innings of 40 which included 6 fours and a huge six and fellow all rounder Hughes added 17 run late on to see his team through for a win at 189-6.
Division Six West
Llandysul 2nds 28 all out (4 points)
Llanwrda 138-7 (18 points)
Llandysul 2nds were skittled out in 20 overs at Llanwrda following a collapse that began in the first over when opener Luke Swift was clean bowled by Sion Nicholas and not one batsman got into double figures as Nicholas with 2-5, Will Thurtle with 5-11 and Osian Nicholas 2-6 sent the Llandysul batters scurrying back to the pavilion for early refreshments.
The visitors were chasing a total of 138 thanks to the efforts of openers Adrian Davies with 32 and Nigel Clarke who made 25 and all rounders Thurtle (22) and Osian Nicholas (22). Aled Jones was the pick of the Llandysul bowlers and the experienced campaigner took 3-24.
