Division 1
Knighton 2 Aberaeron 0
On a bitterly cold Friday evening and on a very heavy and bumpy pitch the long unbeaten run of Aberaeron finally came to an end.
The black and ambers had enjoyed a successful few months in between wet weather cancellations but manager Jason Jones was not overly concerned as the second half performance of his team was outstanding and they were unlucky not to pinch a couple of goals.
Knighton started brightly and were first to the ball all over the pitch and Aeron struggled for possession and were generally off the pace and second best.
The hosts took the lead after ten minutes through a sloppy goal following a simple passing move by Knighton that caught the visiting defence flat footed when Tom James fired home but Aberaeron responded well and had a string of corners but without putting the home keeper under too much pressure.
Some harsh words were spoken at half time and Aberaeron responded positively and dominated long periods of the second half, creating chance after chance. They were unlucky with one goal ruled out for off-side and front runner Matty Davies came close on a number of occasions but Knighton held out for the win they deserved.
In the other games played in division one Borth United suffered a heavy defeat away at Llandrindod Wells by 5-1 and Machynlleth were edged out by Kerry by 3-2.
