J.Emrys Morgan Cup
Newcastle Emlyn put paid to any thoughts of a giant killing act by Penparcau Reserves with a fine all round showing that produced five goals without reply.
Billed as one of the more intriguing matches of the round with both teams in top form, it never lived up to expectations as the more experienced Costcutter first division side were just too good on the day for the current leaders of division two of the Cambrian Tyres league.
Outstanding for the reds was talented front runner Jake Kelly who bagged a fine hat trick to cap a successful afternoon for the south Ceredigion club who lifted this prestigious trophy two years ago. Manager Owain Thomas has seen his team win seven on the bounce after an indifferent start and the reds will take some stopping in this competition. Also on target for Emlyn were young winger Cory Davies and midfielder Steve Thomas.
Lampeter Town cruised through into the quarter finals despite fielding a weakened side against Llanilar. Manager Jonyon Evans was missing four regulars but his re shaped team gelled quickly and went ahead when experienced front runner Luke Lovell netted and he added a second just before the break.
Further goals followed as Lampeter dominated with Jason Jones and Terry Witts from the penalty spot netting to kill the game off.
Former winners Llandysul were knocked out by neighbours Felinfach thanks to a winning goal from Ben McEvoy whilst the matches between Dewi Stars and Aberdyfi and Cardigan versus Rhayader Reserves were not played with the Ceredigion teams going through into round five as their opponents could not raise a team.
Guilsfield Reserves also went through at the expense of Bargod Rangers with Rhydian Davies and Gethin Rees on target for Rangers as they went down by 4-2.
