Ceredigion Costcutter League Cup- Town fire nine goals past the Stars.
Cardigan Town continued with their excellent early season form with a resounding 9-2 win over Dewi Stars in the opening round of the League Cup at the King George field.
The Magpies under the guidance of new player manager James Evans are currently unbeaten in the league after eight games and they along with St Dogmaels look to be heading for a successful season.
On form for the Magpies was front runner Liam Doherty who bagged four goals and there were two for talented midfielder Ben Davies who was one of the stand out players. Young wide man Llion Williams was also on target as was roving defender Joost Burki and to rub further salt into the wounds there was an own goal. The very young Stars team battled bravely but they were generally outplayed and out muscled in the heavy conditions. On target for the Stars were Bryn Jones and Rhodri Morgan.
Cup holders Llandysul were sent crashing out of the League Cup after they were hit for six by local rivals Newcastle Emlyn.
The Swallows who lost the services of manager Gwynfor Edwards a couple of weeks ago after he left for pastures new fielded a very young side who also found the slippery conditions very tough. Outstanding for the hosts was experienced campaigner Sam Hall who completed a fine hat trick and there were two goals for winger Cory Davies and one for Scott Lote Williams.
The match between Crymych and New Quay was postponed due to the wet weather.
