GREAT START FOR CRYMYCH

Rugby round up

Division 1 west

Crymych 31  Llangennech 21

Crymych made a great start to the new season with a well deserved success over Llangennech at Parc Lloyd Thomas.

Adam Phillips

The Preselimen fresh from a convincing win over Haverfordwest in the Pembrokeshire Cup  were indebted to returning full back Adam Phillips for providing sixteen points from the boot in what was a decent all round team performance although they were down at half time.

There were some big showings from powerful ball carriers in the form of back rowers Sion Collela, Osian Davies, centre Carwyn Phillips, second row Mathew Freebury and prop Steffan Harries.

Young outside half Jac Davies linked up well with his former youth team partner Dafydd Phillips at inside half and both crossed for tries as did flying winger Laurence Headlam.

The visitors who were shown a number of yellow cards and which proved to be very expensive in the end, crossed for tries through Nathan Bowen, Jordan Saunders, and Richard Thomas with all three scores converted by Chris Doran, but it was Rhys Davies and his team who came through for the win.

There was also an excellent win for Crymych second team away at Pembroke where they ran out victors by 48-7. Iwan Davies provided two of the tries and there was one apiece for Dafydd Walters, Tomos Lewis, Gareth Davies, Hedd James,Rhodri Davies and Keiran Jones. Gareth Davies slotted over four conversions.
