LLECHRYD GO TOP-WIN FOR CRYMYCH
Pembroke County Cricket League
Division Two
Llechryd 33 for 0 beat Pembroke 31 all out by 10 wickets
Llechryd skipper John Curran was presented with the Thomas Carroll Player of the Month award for May prior to this game but the Llechryd match winner was over shadowed on this occasion by opening bowler Rhys Beard who blasted the Pembroke team out almost on his own.
The visitors who batted first were not at the crease for long and this game was all over in very quick time with the visitors having no answer to the accurate bowling of Beard who posted figures of 7-14 as Pembroke stuttered to 31 all out. Curran was also amongst the wickets and grabbed a couple and there was one for Graham Keen. Not one single batsmen reached double figures.
Curran and co knocked off the runs in super-fast time with the skipper making 19 and James Betterley chipping in with 10 to steer their side to a ten-wicket success.
Division 4
Crymych 56 for 1 (30) beat Llechryd 2nds 54 all out (1) by 9 wkts
Llechryd lost the toss at Glandy Cross and were put in but their inning got off to a bad start in this local derby match when Ollie Roberts who made a century last weekend fell for just 11 runs in the 4th over with the score standing at 15. Things did not improve much as the Llechryd innings faltered and never got any momentum, with six players recording ducks. Rob Mansfield did provide some solid resistance for much of the innings, fighting what must have seemed like a one man regard action, and he eventually fell for a hard fought 10.
The Crymych response was effective, despite some good and tight opening bowling by Luke Palmer- Davies who was unlucky not to pick up a wicket in his six over stint (6 overs for 10 runs) and Kelvin Holmes bowled well for his figures of 8 overs 28 runs and 1 wicket. The Crymych openers did their jobs well with all-rounder James George undefeated on 17 not out and Ioan Davies making 28, before number three bat Sam Kurtz saw the game out in the 17th over.
