Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies
Quarter Finals.
Cardigan Town secured a place in the semi finals of the Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies after they fired six past Llanboidy and the Magpies will now take on Newcastle Emlyn in the last four.
The visitors from the second division were far better than the score suggests and deserved more than the single goal that was netted by Rhys Jenkins as they made Town work hard for their success but credit to the hosts for the clinical way they took their chances. Goals from Ewan Jones, Josh Mellor, Tomos Toft, Llion Williams, Liam James and skipper Ben Davies sent them through to the semi final.
A goal apiece from Cian Edwards and Adam Jones proved sufficient to see Ffostrasol through by 2-1 for a place in the last four after a winning performance at Parc Y Dre against the Coraclemen.
Bay Cup round 1
Dewi Stars 3 Bargod Rangers 2
Dewi Stars reached the last eight of the Bay Cup with a hard fought victory over promotion seeking Bargod Rangers. It was the second division front runners who played all the early football but for once during a difficult season it was the home team that got the breaks. The Stars took the lead on 20 minutes when young Oscar Cayo Evans fed veteran Andrew Jones and he tucked his low shot into the corner. The Stars doubled their lead on the half hour when the quick thinking William Williams took a free kick on the edge of the box while Bargod were still organising the wall, leaving custodian Gethin Davies stranded as he found the corner of the net.
The second half followed much the same pattern with Bargod pressing but the Stars defence held firm until the 75th minute when Mathew Evans was first to react to a loose ball after Rhodri Edwards’ had made the initial save to set up an exciting finale. Both sides had clear cut chances as the game opened up but the Stars held on for victory and another home tie against the winners of the fixture between Aberporth and New Quay.
