Llanidloes 1 Aberaeron 1
Aberaeron continued with their impressive run of results after they came away from Victoria Park with a well deserved draw against division one high fliers Llanidloes.
The black and ambers who are unbeaten in seven games went behind in this tough encounter but they battled their way back and fully deserved a share of the spoils at the end especially with an understrength side.
The second half saw some renewed vigour from Llanidloes and the visitors defence were kept busy and young keeper Ollie Farebrother distinguished himself with some good saves and excellent decision making especially from an aerial bombardment. He was well supported by centre backs Elwyn Edwards who had a great match and Dan Bourne who twice cleared off the line.
The home pressure finally brought about the lead when a deep cross was powerfully headed by Mathew Savage past Farebrother but this brought about a terrific response from Aberaeron who dominated the game entirely from that point. They created numerous half-chances and then finally Gornall provided a deft chip over the defence for young substitute, Ianto Evans to control and volley brilliantly low in to the corner of the net.
The remaining ten minutes saw more chances created at both ends with Richie Evans and Joe Evans going close for the Daffs and at the other end Chris Wilkins blazed over from a good position which would have given the visitors a well-deserved victory. The good run, however, continues for Aberaeron who are the form team over the last two months and remain unbeaten in the league in that time.
“I have to give my lads a lot of credit because we never stopped and with the injury list like ours we deserve a bit of luck. I was chuffed for Ianto as he deserves that and took his goal really well, showing his ability and we had another big game from Elwyn Evans
