Spar mid Wales League
Division 1
Aberaeron 1 Bow Street 1
The honours were shared in the local derby at Aberaeron but Bow Street will look back at a number of missed opportunities including a penalty save by black and ambers keeper Barry Edwards with the score at 0-0.
Aeron, who have hit some fine form in recent weeks made the most of their good fortune early on when Edwards saved a Mark Gornall spot kick and they took the lead when former Magpie Matty Davies curled home a free kick from the edge of the box after 34 minutes and the hosts were presented with some decent chances to increase their lead before the break but they were just off target.
The second half was a different story as the visitors threw everything at Aberaeron and put them under huge pressure in the windy conditions and were well worth their equaliser which was put away by Tom Williams direct from a scrappy corner which should have been cleared. Referee Aled Jones had his hands full as players grappled like wrestlers in the penalty box as well as some unsavoury off the ball afters.
The seasiders were forced to defend vigorously for long periods and they were put under even more pressure when Dan James was red carded but they managed to hang on for a point.
Llanrhaeadr hit five at Llanfair United, with Khyam Wytton and Iwan Matthews both netting twice, and Tom Evans also scoring and Carno went one better against Tywyn Bryncrug with goals from Peter Rees, Luke Evans, Jac Petrie and Scott Williams.
Knighton Town were 2-1 winners over Radnor Valley thanks to goals from Connor Bird and Danny Ives.
