BONT FLYING HIGH

Cambrian Tyres League

Division 1

Reigning champions Bont sent out a clear message to their opponents that they are going to take some stopping following a convincing 5-0 win over arch rivals Talybont.

The Tangerines who have won six out of six this term, went ahead midway through the first half when Andrew Caree netted from the penalty spot after he had been bundled over in the box and they were unlucky not to go two goals up soon after but this effort was disallowed.

The second half was one way traffic as the home side added another four goals without reply. Ben Lewis tapped in the first of these after good work from David Beck and soon after Beck was afforded time and space in the penalty box and he fired his shot low beyond the keeper and into the net. Talybont had a good chance to get back in the game when Christian Jones pounced on a defensive error but he was unable to lift the ball over the oncoming Trevor Jenkins.

Beck bagged his second when he used his pace to sneak in between the last man and keeper to slot home from 12 yards and there was still time for one more when good work from Dion Davies found Osian Davies who set up fellow substitute Tristan Jenkins to seal another three points for the home side.

A hat trick from Turfs hot shot Carwyn Earey helped steer second placed side Tregaron to a convincing win over a struggling Borth Reserves team. Earey who has now bagged fourteen goals to date was a handful all afternoon and fully deserved his rewards. Others to score were Llion Thomas who claimed a brace and Llyr Davies.
