RAPID DEFEAT FOR LLECHRYD

Pembroke County Cricket League

Division 2

Previously unbeaten Llechryd suffered defeat in super quick time at Narberth in the top of the table clash.

The Teifisiders who enjoyed an excellent win the previous weekend against Llanrhian struggled with the bat with openers Andrew Davies and Ollie Roberts going cheaply before Leighton O’Connor steadied the ship with a useful knock of 19.

However some excellent bowling from Loui Davies with 3-11 and Lewis Hough 3-25 caused a middle order collapse and it was down to fourteen year old Tomos Davies to save the side huge embarrassment and he chipped in with an impressive knock of 37 and the visitors innings closed at 93 all out.

Narberth took just 19 overs to rattle off the runs despite the efforts of Peter Betterley 1-22, Ben Kiss 1-25 and Leighton O’Connor 1-21.

Ritchie Adams was the top scorer for the hosts with 47 not out in partnership with skipper Jordan Howell who made 32 not out to steer his team home to a comfortable win.

Llechryd 2nds also suffered a defeat after they went down to Burton 2nds at the RDM Oval.

The visitors posted a challenging total of 161 thanks to contributions from Gavin Campbell with 36, Ian Betterley with 28 and Colin Picton who made 27.

The pick of the hosts bowling attack were Andrew Fletcher with 3-27, Joe Mansfield 2-30 and Malcolm McHugh with 2-21.

All rounder Fletcher helped Llechryd get off to a steady start and he made 21 but apart from tail ender Steve Harding who made 32, runs were scarce as Daniel Ridge blew away the middle order and returned figures of 4-9 and the hosts were eventually skittled out for 97.

League high fliers Crymych kept their unbeaten record intact after they accounted for Hundleton at Glandycross where Richard Thorne was imperious with the bat once again. Thorne who blasted his way to 165 the previous weekend produced another superb knock and made 66 and Rhodri Thomas also impressed with the bat and hit five boundaries during his inning of 38.

The visitors posted a decent total of 158-8 with Jonathan Williams 51, Mark Williams 24 and Paul Edwards 19 the main run getters for Hundleton. Ioan Davies was the pick of the home attack with 3-33.

In reply Thorne and Thomas helped steer their team past the post with wickets and overs to spare at 159-7.
