EMLYN TOO HOT FOR CRANNOG

Costcutter League and Cup round up.

Bay Cup –Quarter Finals

League cup winners Newcastle Emlyn cruised through to the semi final of the Bay Cup after they fired six past Crannog at Parc Emlyn.

Former Bargod Rangers player Jake Kelly was the star of the show for Emlyn as he fired home four goals against a team that didn’t really turn up on the day. The Crannog defence found the recently transferred striker too hot to handle and he was outstanding.

Peter Almond and Huw Jones joined him on the scoresheet with a penalty apiece to rub further salt into the Crannog wounds although the visitors will look back at a few missed chances that could have kept them in the game. New Quay will provide the opposition for the reds in the semi final after they accounted for Aberporth by 4-2 with Nathan Davies claiming three of the goals for Quay and Glenn Baldwin grabbing the other.

South Cards Cup Semi Finals

Pencader and Llanboidy will meet in the final of the South Cards cup after they came through for hard fought wins on the weekend.

Llanboidy though were forced to come from a goal down to win after Joe Rees had netted for the reds. Caleb Young levelled matters for the Cae Dandre outfit and they went ahead just before the break when Frazer Wyatt netted.

Chris Bowen made it 3-1 and a powerful header from Wyatt sealed the win.

Pencader edged out division two champions Ffostrasol by 3-2 at Parc Troedrhiw to make up for losing out in the title race. Gethin Davies netted twice for the hosts but two goals apiece for Daniel Jones and Craig Gordon saw Kevin Evans and his men through to the final but their successful afternoon was soured as two of their men were shown red cards.

Costcutters Division One

St Dogmaels could only just muster a bare eleven for their trip to Cilgerran including veteran Steve Williams the Saints manager but they still managed to come away with a win to keep them on course for a finish above rivals Cardigan Town.

Experienced front runner Johnny James netted the winner but the greens should have scored several others such was their dominance.

Cardigan Town were comfortable winners away at Felinfach by 3-1.
