SEAGULLS MISS OUT

Spar Mid Wales Division 1
Carno 2 Aberaeron 1
Carno were delighted to pick up three points against Aberaeron especially as they had eight players unavailable through injury and suspension but they were forced to ride their luck at times as the black and ambers missed some big chances.
It was the seasiders who started well at Ty Brith and home keeper Kris Williams was called into duty very early on whilst at the other end the hosts created very little in a poor first half performance. Richie Evans and Jordan Jones both had penalty appeals waved away after being pushed over in the box from crosses but the half ended all square.
The breakthrough came on the hour mark when substitute Adam Nottingham played the ball across the box at the second attempt for Richie Evans to beat the keeper with a scuffed shot that found its way in.
Aberaeron hit back fifteen minutes later when Dan James was first to react in the box from a corner and he fired the ball into the net from close range.
Both sides had decent chances to take the lead in the final minutes of the game, and one of these saw Richie Evans go on a mazy run and his shot forced keeper Barry Edwards into making a smart save whilst Aberaeron were denied when Kris Williams into made a great stop at the other end as the game entered added on time.
The winner came two minutes into injury time when Ger Jones played a ball into the box which saw Jordan Jones challenge both the keeper and the Aberaeron centre half and the ball bounced out to midfielder Danny Pierce to calmly volley the ball into the top corner and secure three points for his team.
