PENPARC YFC DONATE VITAL FUNDS

‘An astonishing amount of money’

Penparc Young Farmers Club raised an astonishing £13,000 from a ‘Port to Port’ vintage tractor run which took place nearly a year ago and which covered almost 200 miles of coastal roads over four arduous days.

The hardy team of tractor drivers included Cardigan RFC outside half Llyr Jones, second team back rower Dyfed Symmons and Maesglas footballer Marc James.

They were joined by club colleagues Ed Wells, Ceri Davies, Osian Rees and Terry Griffiths drove from Fishguard to Anglesey to raise money for a cause close to their hearts – the Wales Air Ambulance as they felt strongly that people living in their community which is a relatively remote rural area, are in a vulnerable position especially in an emergency situation with all the major hospitals being an hour’s drive away.

The vital funds raised were handed over last week when members of the Penparc YFC travelled to the Wales Air Ambulance Depot at Llanelli to present the cheque and where they received a very warm welcome and gained an insight into the very valued work of the Wales Air Ambulance.

Penparc YFC would like to thank all those who kindly supported this event through sponsorship and donations and they would also like to sincerely thank everyone who gave up their time to make this such an historic event.

Beca Reid, Club Secretary told Sportsline that she was extremely proud of the Club for organising the event and for the effort that everyone put in to making it such a huge success.

She added: “Club members put in a huge effort along the journey to provide support for the drivers along the way and with the fund raising “.

The seven tractor drivers were (l-r) Ed Wells, Ceri Davies, Marc James, Osian Rees, Dyfed Symmons, Llyr Jones and Terry Griffiths.
