Bow Street Reserves 2 Talybont 3
Talybont ended Bow Street Reserves undefeated start to the year with a 3-2 win over their local rivals.
It was Bow Street though who were first out of the blocks and they opened the half very positively with wingers Gethin ap Dafydd and Justin Quinn shooting wide before Stephen Harrison nodded home a Nick Smith corner to put the hosts ahead.
The visitors followed this up with a third when striker Barrie Southgate found himself unmarked in the box and he bicycle kicked the ball past keeper Evans.
It was very much the same after the interval with the visitors putting pressure on Bow Street’s defence, pressurising them into making mistakes but the Magpies managed to scramble the ball away.
At the other end the home side went close a few times and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty on two occasions. The first of these was from a corner and the second when striker Shaun Jones was brought down on the edge of the penalty.
Bow Street pulled a goal back with half an hour to go when midfielder Danny Whiteway laid the ball off to ap Dafydd who found his way passed a Talybont defender and played a lovely through ball into the path of Shaun Jones who slotted the ball home.
Bow Street piled on the pressure as the visitors looked to hold on to their 3-2 lead and Harrison had two chances within minutes which were put over and even a late red card for the visitors for a second bookable offence wasn’t enough for the Magpies to find a way through and the game ended at 3-2 with Talybont going through to the third round.
