Aberystwyth Uni Reserves 4 Bont 7
Bont moved seven points clear of nearest rivals Bow Street at the top of division one after they completed a 7-4 victory over the students.
This topsy turvy game was the only game to survive the weather in the Cambrian Tyres League and it did not disappoint as there was plenty of goalmouth action and Bont striker Lee Jones made the most of his chances with three well taken goals.
It was the visitors, full of confidence following a successful few weeks that has seen them reach three semi-finals, who were first on the scoresheet as Andrew Gilbert found himself free on the edge of the area to fire home the lead.
The visitors were left hanging on for the next quarter of the game but managed to break through when Ben Lewis was brought down in the area and the resulting spot kick was slotted home by Andrew Carree.
The ding dong affair then saw the Tangerines score three goals in five minutes as Jones grabbed his first of the game after latching on to a long ball and slotting the ball passed the keeper, before Lewis grabbed his first of the game after great work from Carree left Dion Davies and Lewis two-on-two with the defence and he showed great composure to finish the move off.
The final goal of the half was a leading candidate for goal of the season as Jones grabbed his second, when after his corner kick was cleared out to him in space he drove the ball home with a ferocious half volley from a difficult angle, leaving the goalkeeper motionless, and everybody speechless as Bont took a 5-2 lead into half time.
The game was finally put to bed by the league leaders as a poor clearance by the Aber Uni goalkeeper led to Jones securing his hat-trick and this was followed up with another from Lewis to complete the scoring.
