Cambrian Tyres League Division One
Bow Street Reserves 5-0 Tregaron
Bow Street Reserves piled the pressure on league leaders Bont with an emphatic win over rivals Tregaron at Cae Piod and closed the gap at the top to only four points.
The division high fliers totally dominated the first half albeit against a Turfs side that were missing a clutch of regulars including their keeper and the only surprise was that there was only a three goal lead at half time.
Osian Burrell opened the scoring early on as his team took advantage of some poor defending and soon afterwards Justin Quinn made it 2-0 Nicky Smith added a third from the penalty spot when he fired the ball high into the corner of the net to all but kill the game.
Some video action and a post match reaction from joint manager Leighton Reynolds.
Bow Street relaxed somewhat in the second half, and Tregaron had a fair share of possession but without ever really threatening Rhys Evans the Bow Street goalkeeper.
However, the half was lit up by two sensational goals. The first of these was a brilliant individual goal by man of the match and midfielder Guto Havard, this from a mazy run waltzing past defenders in a similar fashion to Edin Hazard’s for Chelsea on the same afternoon!
The two horse race for the title is now hotting up with Bow Street Reserves trailing Bont by only four points with five games each left to play.
Manager Rhodri Jones said that he was delighted with the performance which he described as ‘an excellent all round display’ by the whole squad with the most pleasing aspect being the contribution of all the youngsters as the current squad is one of the youngest squads ever to represent Bow Street Reserves’
