MANORDEIFI ON TOP FORM

Cardiganshire Short Mat Bowling League.

A convincing 8-0 win over Orllwyn enabled Manordeifi to hold on to its position at the top of the league for the second week running just ahead of title rivals Rhydlewis. Capel Dewi retained their third place following a 6-2 success over Llechryd whilst there were comfortable wins for Rhydlewis who defeated Mydroilyn by 8-0 and Caerwedros who beat Dolphins 8-0.

Orllwyn 0 – Manordeifi 8

Manordeifi took control of this match from the start and never looked like giving Orllwyn a look in.

In the singles, Steve Reynolds dominated, with an excellent display of drawing bowls. It took Marlene and Paul a couple of ends to settle to the weight of the mat, but then they went on to win the pairs comfortably; rubbing salt into the wound by stealing an extra shot on the last end from what looked like a sure-fire two shots to Orllwyn.

Manordeifi played a steady game in the triples and at the close of the game, an excellent draw shot from skip Alan took them over the line for two points.

The fours was also a closer call in terms of how each end played out, but the visitors kept it cool and calm and went on to win.

Caerwedros 8 – Dolphins 0

Caerwedros maintained their strong home form with a convincing 8 – 0 win over Dolphins. Iwan Davies continues to impress in the singles, whilst his sister Elin played lead to Lynda Evans in the pairs and showed that her brother is not the only talented young bowler in the family.   The threesome of Barry, Neil and Roy kept up their recent good form and never looked in danger as their opponents struggled to come to terms with the tricky mat.  Finally, John G. Evans led his four to a good win.
